AS PTT Club from New Caledonia delivered an outstanding performance in the OFC Futsal Championship, decisively defeating Mataks FC from the Solomon Islands with a score of 6-1. This match marked a rematch of the 2024 final, with both teams eager to assert their dominance.
Mataks FC started the game with high intensity, motivated to avenge their previous defeat. Under the leadership of captain Elis Mana and players Clifford Misitana and Calvin Do’oro, they sought to control the early stages of the match. Their efforts paid off when Elis Mana capitalized on a turnover, scoring the opening goal following a bold play by goalkeeper Benjamin Maeidua.
However, AS PTT quickly responded. Jymael Upa raced down the sideline and set up Emmanuel Hmaen to equalize the game. The encounter grew increasingly fierce as both teams fought for control, locked at 1-1. Just before halftime, Christ Pei gave AS PTT the lead with a stunning goal, sending the teams into the break with AS PTT ahead 2-1.
In the second half, AS PTT maintained momentum, with Upa supplying a precise pass to Hary Hmaloko, who extended their lead with another goal. Meanwhile, Matthieu Wassin, the goalkeeper for AS PTT, showcased his defensive skills, thwarting Mataks FC’s attempts to rally.
Things became increasingly difficult for Mataks FC after substitute goalkeeper Lordrick Afia received a red card, forcing the team to adapt by implementing a flying keeper strategy for the rest of the match. Unfortunately for Mataks, this did not help as Christ Pei completed his hat trick with a powerful long-range goal.
AS PTT’s performance was a testament to their skill and determination, finishing the match with an impressive 6-1 victory. This win not only highlights New Caledonia’s growing capabilities in futsal but also sets the stage for their ambitious pursuit of success in future Oceania competitions, bolstering their confidence as they move forward in the tournament.
