A new long-form animated film titled “AS ONE” is set to premiere on August 22, 2025. Directed by Koubum Shizuno, who has been a key player in the Detective Conan series since the 15th film, and featuring character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, known for his work on iconic anime such as “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,” and “Summer Wars.” The film is based on the arcade game “Hoshi to Tsubasa no Paradox.”
The story follows Yō, a high school student troubled by his uncertain future as he aspires to become a musician. Voices will be provided by Ruki Shiraiwa of the QL group JO1, who is taking on his first role as a voice actor. Supporting roles will include Haruka Shiraishi as Laco, who lives as a robot mechanic on a floating space star, and Shunsuke Takasuke as Viggo, a character who Laco admires like an older brother. The narrative centers around Yō’s turmoil in pursuing his dreams, intertwined with futuristic and fantastical elements.
Much excitement surrounds the project, particularly due to Shiraiwa’s involvement as both the voice actor for Yō and creator of the film’s theme song “Meguriboshi,” which he wrote and composed himself. Fans have expressed enthusiasm on social media, highlighting his transition into voice acting. The film aims to capture the reality of youth, infused with moments of personal growth and connection.
An early screening event will take place on August 13, featuring several cast members, including Shiraiwa, Shiraishi, and voice actress Yoko Hikasa.
