A's Aim for Series Win Against Dodgers: Can Bido Bounce Back?

A’s Aim for Series Win Against Dodgers: Can Bido Bounce Back?

The Oakland Athletics are set for their final match against the Los Angeles Dodgers this evening, looking to clinch the series after splitting the first two games. A victory would mark a significant milestone for the young A’s team, which currently sits fourth in the AL West with a record of 22-21, just 1.5 games behind the first-place Seattle Mariners. With the competition in the division tightening early in the season, every game has vital implications.

Right-hander Osvaldo Bido will take the mound for the Athletics, hoping to regain his earlier season form. Bido began the season remarkably, allowing just six runs in his first four starts, but has unfortunately stumbled recently, giving up 16 runs over his last four outings. His ERA has risen sharply from a low of 2.61 to 4.75. The A’s are counting on Bido to find his rhythm once again as he faces a formidable Dodgers lineup that is currently performing well.

In terms of lineup changes, center fielder JJ Bleday will rest after participating in almost every game this season. Seth Brown will step in as the left-handed option in center field, despite a season batting average of .220. Second baseman Luis Urias will also take the night off, with Max Schuemann starting in his place, while Miguel Andujar will sit to make room for Gio Urshela at third base.

On the opposing side, Dodgers’ rookie right-hander Matt Sauer is making his first major league start. Though he has mostly served as a reliever, he has previously pitched five innings in a game this season. The A’s will aim to capitalize on this opportunity by knocking Sauer out early and challenging the Dodgers’ bullpen.

Additionally, the game marks the major league debut of Dalton Rushing, the Dodgers’ top prospect ranked 15th overall, who will be behind the plate tonight. Rushing has demonstrated impressive power at the Triple-A level, which could pose a challenge for Bido and the A’s pitching staff.

With a series win on the line, the A’s fans are ready to support their team in hopes that they can emerge victorious from Los Angeles.
