The Army men’s volleyball team is gearing up for a pivotal showdown as they seek to reclaim the prestigious Sukuna Bowl Volleyball trophy, aiming to end a seven-year losing streak against the Police team. Fereti Bolavucu, a representative of the Army volleyball squad, acknowledges the tough challenge ahead but remains confident in their preparedness and team spirit.
In spite of recent rainy weather, Bolavucu reports that the team’s morale is unshaken. “Our preparations have been great. The past few days have been rainy, but that did not dampen our spirits to meet, train, and give our best for this once-in-a-while competition,” he said. The Army players are leaning on their experience and teamwork, which they believe will play a critical role in overcoming the Police side.
The excitement for the Sukuna Bowl is building, with matches set to commence on November 17 in Suva, and concluding in Labasa on November 21. This event not only highlights athletic talent but also fosters camaraderie and unity among participants and their supporters.
In a complementary rivalry, the Police netball team is also aiming for victory to break their recent string of defeats against the Army, showcasing the competitive spirit emblematic of these events. The upcoming Sukuna Bowl is shaping up to be a captivating affair, with both teams displaying resilience and determination as they prepare to put their skills to the test.
As the anticipation mounts for the matches ahead, there is a collective hope that this year’s competition will deliver thrilling performances while strengthening the sense of community and pride among fans of both teams. The Sukuna Bowl stands as a testament to the dedication of the athletes and the vibrant spirit within the sporting community.
