Armie Hammer has revealed he is embarking on a “new life in Los Angeles” through a video shared on Instagram. In the clip, he discusses the necessity of selling his truck due to rising fuel costs, stating, “I can’t afford the gas anymore.”
“I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now,” Hammer explained while at a CarMax location in California. He reminisced about purchasing the truck for himself as a Christmas gift in 2017, detailing his fondness for it, including camping trips and cross-country drives. However, he has spent around $400 to $500 on gas since returning to Los Angeles and feels he can no longer sustain those expenses.
Following sexual abuse allegations that surfaced in 2021, Hammer had been living and working as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands. These allegations, which included claims of rape and engaging in cannibalism fantasies, severely impacted his career. He was dropped from various projects, terminated by his publicist and agent, and was the focus of an LAPD investigation, though he faced no criminal charges. Hammer has consistently denied the allegations and stated that all his relationships were consensual.
Recently, Hammer has begun re-entering the public eye, appearing on programs like Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Tom Arnold’s “Painful Lessons,” and “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” While he asserts that the sexual assault allegations are false, he has acknowledged other questionable behavior, such as infidelity. He described the experience of being “canceled” as “liberating” and revealed he has written a screenplay based on his life with aspirations to return to filmmaking.
“Here’s to new beginnings,” he stated in the video. Hammer’s birthday is approaching, and he remarked, “So, August 28, I will be starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles.”
Reflecting on memories tied to the truck, he mentioned driving his newborns home from the hospital, expressing gratitude for the experiences shared with it. Hammer indicated he has already purchased a “tiny” hybrid vehicle that is expected to incur minimal gas costs. “I just keep telling myself that parking is going to be easier and gas is going to be cheaper,” he added.
