In the opening match, Arizona secured an 8-0 win against Long Beach State, finishing the game in just five innings. The Wildcats displayed a powerful offense, recording nine hits and hitting three home runs. The scoring began early, with Arizona taking a commanding 6-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to two-run doubles and home runs by Stewart and Jenkins. In the second game of the day, Arizona continued their offensive onslaught, beating Minnesota 11-2, again in five innings.
