The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) announced its annual All-State team for various classifications on Saturday, recognizing an impressive performance from local athletes. Five athletes from the region were honored, all earning All-State accolades in Class 2A. The standout local schools included Ariton, which secured three spots, followed by Pike Lib and Goshen, each contributing one player to the prestigious list.

Ariton’s achievements were particularly notable, featuring senior defensive lineman Gabe Jones and junior athlete Addison Senn, both of whom were named First-Team All-State. Senn’s recognition as a punter was accompanied by an outstanding average of 48.8 yards per punt, with six of his kicks landing inside the 20-yard line—a testament to his skill and precision on the field. Beyond his punting prowess, Senn also served as the starting quarterback and defensive back for the Purple Cats. His remarkable dual-threat capability saw him throwing for 1,423 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also rushing for 481 yards and seven touchdowns, in addition to making 55 tackles on defense.

This recognition highlights not only the individual talents of these athletes but also the strength of the local programs that continue to foster excellence in high school sports. The All-State accolades celebrate hard work and dedication, offering a bright future for these young athletes as they move forward in their athletic careers.
