Arch Manning will continue his journey with the Texas Longhorns, announcing his return for the 2026 season. This decision has alleviated any speculation surrounding the quarterback’s future, as confirmed by his father, Cooper Manning, in an interview with ESPN. Texas officials also expressed their expectation for his return, solidifying the commitment.

Manning, the talented nephew of NFL greats Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as the grandson of legendary quarterback Archie Manning, had considered entering the 2026 NFL Draft. However, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian advised against such a move, noting Manning’s progress both physically and mentally throughout the season. “He’s gotten better as the season’s gone on,” Sarkisian said, emphasizing the importance of further growth before making a leap to the NFL. He believes Manning has “unfinished business” in college football and an opportunity to compete for SEC and national championships.

This season, Manning entered with high expectations for the Heisman Trophy but faced a challenging start. Despite this, he rebounded strongly in the latter part of the season, leading the Longhorns to a 6-1 record down the stretch and earning support for the College Football Playoff. Over his redshirt sophomore season, he accumulated impressive stats, throwing for 2,942 yards with 24 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.

Manning now has the chance to further enhance his college career in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan on December 31, providing an opportunity to solidify his legacy and prepare for future challenges. His decision to return reflects his competitive spirit and a desire to achieve even greater heights with the Longhorns.
