Álvaro Arbeloa is set to make his LaLiga managerial debut for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu this weekend, stepping into a challenging situation following his friend Xabi Alonso’s recent departure. Arbeloa’s initiation into management has not been kind, as his first match ended in a shocking Copa del Rey exit against second-division club Albacete.

With Real Madrid having already lost two trophies—the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup—in quick succession, the focus sharpens on their remaining ambitions: LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League. Currently, Madrid is positioned four points behind rivals Barcelona in the league standings. This Saturday’s matchup against Levante presents a crucial opportunity for Madrid to exert pressure on their competitors with a home victory.

As Arbeloa prepares his lineup amidst a tense atmosphere at the Bernabéu, he will make strategic adjustments to enhance team performance. The most notable change is the return of Thibaut Courtois in goal, replacing Lunin. Courtois was a key element in Alonso’s plans and is expected to play a vital role for Arbeloa as well.

In defense, Valverde will start at right-back, with coach staff managing Dani Carvajal’s gradual return from injury carefully. Asencio and Huijsen will occupy the central defensive roles, while Carreras returns to the left flank.

The midfield will witness significant changes, with Tchouameni and Bellingham poised to reclaim their spots after resting against Albacete, joining Valverde in a revamped setup. Young talent Güler will start on the bench but could be called upon in the second half to inject creativity into the attacking play.

On the attacking front, Vinicius remains a staple on the left wing, while Gonzalo is anticipated to lead the forward line with Kylian Mbappé supporting him.

The confirmed lineup for Real Madrid against Levante is as follows: Courtois; Valverde, Asencio, Huijsen, Carreras; Tchouameni, Bellingham; Gonzalo, Mbappé, and Vinicius.

Despite the setbacks, there remains hope for a turnaround as Arbeloa aims to rally the team and restore confidence in a pivotal season.
