Apple TV has officially secured an exclusive five-year contract to broadcast Formula 1 in the United States starting in 2026, a deal that reportedly amounts to $160 million per year. This significant agreement follows the collaboration on the recent hit film “F1,” produced by Apple, which highlights the company’s deepening ties with the motorsport.
As ESPN prepares to conclude its Formula 1 coverage at the end of this year—a partnership that began in 2018 and utilized the British Sky Sports F1 broadcasts—it expressed pride in its achievements with the sport. In a statement, ESPN wished Formula 1 well in its future endeavors while emphasizing the contributions made during their partnership.
The specifics of how Apple will approach its broadcasting strategy remain uncertain. There are suggestions that it may either continue collaborating with Sky Sports F1 or utilize F1 TV, making both options viable for its upcoming broadcasting plans.
F1 president Stefano Domenicali acknowledged the fruitful history between Apple and Formula 1, highlighting their joint success in creating “F1 The Movie,” which has garnered widespread acclaim globally.
