Apple released iOS 18.5 on Monday, featuring a standout Pride Harmony wallpaper that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in anticipation of Pride Month. This vibrant wallpaper, characterized by its bold and colorful stripes, dynamically shifts appearance as users interact with their devices. It can easily be accessed through Settings > Wallpaper or by long-pressing the lock screen. For Apple Watch users, there’s also a corresponding Pride Harmony watch face included in the watchOS 11.5 update, which complements Apple’s newly launched Pride Edition Sport Band.
Aside from the prominent addition of the Pride wallpaper, iOS 18.5 includes a few minor updates and bug fixes. One change to note is in the Mail app, which now offers an option to easily show or hide contact photos directly within the app, streamlining the process compared to previous versions where adjustments had to be made in Settings. Additionally, users will see a redesigned AppleCare and Warranty banner within the Settings app, offering a more informative coverage option.
Users can install the update by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. While the enhancements in this update may seem limited, the inclusion of features supporting diversity and inclusion, such as the Pride wallpapers, stands as a positive message aligning with the spirit of Pride Month.
This update reflects Apple’s ongoing commitment to advocate for inclusivity, ensuring users can express their identity and support important causes through personalization options on their devices.
