Rabih Yazbek, the ANZ Group country head for Fiji, will be transitioning from his role in early April to assume the position of head of Client Coverage for the United Kingdom and Europe. His leadership in Fiji has been instrumental in enhancing the bank’s presence in the region, particularly during the challenging post-COVID recovery phase.

Under Yazbek’s guidance, ANZ has seen significant growth in both commercial and retail banking, with notable decisions made to deepen relationships with clients and advance the bank’s digital initiatives. His efforts have not only driven home lending growth but have also fostered the development of local talent and a robust sound risk management culture within the organization. Sarah Stubbings, ANZ’s Pacific regional executive, commended Yazbek’s substantial contributions, emphasizing that his leadership has not only fortified the business but has also played a crucial role in supporting Fiji’s economy during a vital period of recovery and growth.

Stubbings remarked that he leaves behind a “legacy of deep customer relationships, strong regulatory engagement, and a values-led culture.” She expressed that this new role is a well-deserved opportunity for Yazbek, acknowledging the valuable lessons he has imparted during his tenure.

In his farewell message, Yazbek expressed gratitude for the privilege of working in Fiji alongside a dedicated team committed to serving customers and communities throughout the Pacific. He reflected on the collective achievements, stating he would miss Fiji and the relationships formed but is eager to embrace the new challenges ahead in strengthening ANZ’s international presence.

As the banking group works on appointing a new country head for Fiji, it is clear that Yazbek leaves a positive impact and strong foundation for his successor. His move to London marks not only a significant career advancement but also signifies ANZ’s ongoing commitment to its international growth strategies.
