Anthony Legacy Continues: Kiyan Chooses Syracuse

Carmelo Anthony has expressed his deep pride in his son, Kiyan Anthony, following Kiyan’s commitment to Syracuse University on Friday. In an emotional video shared on social media, Carmelo conveyed the significance of Kiyan choosing his father’s alma mater, where Carmelo made his own mark as a one-and-done player who led Syracuse to its only national championship in 2003.

Carmelo, who has made significant contributions to the university, including the establishment of the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center, was understandably moved by his son’s decision. Kiyan decided on Syracuse over offers from USC, announcing his choice during his father’s podcast, “7PM in Brooklyn.”

At 6’5″ and weighing 185 pounds, Kiyan is a highly regarded prospect in the Class of 2025, ranked as the sixth-best shooting guard and the 32nd overall player according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. Scouting analysts note that he has an advanced skill set, showcasing the potential for improvement as he continues to develop both defensively and offensively.

Kiyan has high hopes for Syracuse’s future; he believes he can help bring the basketball program back to prominence. The team has struggled recently, missing four of the last five NCAA tournaments, but last season showed promise under first-year head coach Adrian Autry, winning 20 games while holding a competitive 11-9 record in the ACC.

The future appears bright for Syracuse with Kiyan joining a strong incoming class that includes two other four-star recruits, Sadiq White Jr. and Luke Fennell. Together, these young talents may pave the way for a revival of Syracuse basketball.

This moment not only highlights the proud legacy of the Anthony family at Syracuse but also infuses hope for a brighter future for the program. With the right coaching and support, Kiyan and his peers could indeed help restore Syracuse to its former glory in college basketball.
