Nadiem Amiri made an enthusiastic return to training with Mainz 05 on Wednesday, expressing his excitement and fitness following a brief absence. “Yes, I’m back fit,” he told an AZ reporter while smiling and giving a thumbs-up to the camera.
During the session, Amiri was visibly energetic, participating in all drills and continuing to practice shots on goal even after many teammates retreated to the locker room due to the frigid temperatures. He shared with reporters that the training felt great after spending ten days sidelined due to adductor issues, which had previously kept him out of the national team’s matches against Luxembourg and Slovakia—games in which Germany successfully secured their spot for the upcoming World Cup.
With his recovery on track, Amiri’s chances of playing in the Bundesliga home match against his former club TSG Hoffenheim this Friday at 20:30 look promising.
Meanwhile, Anthony Caci was absent from team training, which experienced a slight delay as players engaged in a video analysis session. Despite Caci’s ongoing absence, there remains hope that he could make a comeback before the year concludes.
On the national team front, several players were also missing from training, though Silvan Widmer of Switzerland and Phillipp Mwene celebrated qualification for the 2026 World Cup with their respective squads, adding positive news for the club as they look forward to future matches.
