Frank Fritz, known for his role in the reality series “American Pickers,” has passed away at the age of 60. He died on Monday night in a hospice facility located in Davenport, Iowa, according to his longtime friend Annette Oberlander.
Oberlander, who was at his bedside along with Mike Wolfe, his co-star on the History Channel show, clarified the age discrepancy reported by some outlets, stating that Fritz was indeed 60 years old. Wolfe expressed his condolences in an Instagram post, remembering Fritz as someone who was genuine both on and off camera and had a unique ability to connect with others.
In “American Pickers,” Fritz and Wolfe traveled across the United States, primarily exploring small towns and rural locales to find antiques. Their adventures often saw them searching through dusty barns and cluttered garages for hidden treasures to resell, particularly in their antique shop in Iowa. Fritz showed a particular interest in antique toys and was known for his lighthearted banter with sellers during price negotiations.
Throughout their journey, they sometimes discovered noteworthy items, including a worn-out van associated with the band Aerosmith, which had significant historical value.
Following a stroke in 2022, Fritz struggled to regain his health. Oberlander mentioned that a celebration of his life, which will include a motorcycle run, is being planned for the spring. She reflected on Fritz’s legacy, highlighting the multitude of friendships he built, stating that he was a devoted friend who valued those relationships immensely.
