American Express is transforming the experience for travelers at airport lounges with the launch of The Culinary Collective by The Centurion Lounge, set to debut on July 29. This initiative partners with four renowned James Beard Award-winning chefs and a top mixologist to enhance the dining and beverage options across all 15 Centurion Lounge locations in the United States.
Among the acclaimed chefs involved is Kwame Onwuachi, a Top Chef alum and 2019 Food & Wine’s Best New Chef. He will introduce Afro-Caribbean inspired dishes, featuring Suya Short Ribs and Tamarind Ice Box Cake. Mashama Bailey, co-owner of The Grey in Savannah, adds her celebrated offerings of Paprika Chicken and Espresso Crème Brûlée, while Michael Solomonov from Philadelphia’s Zahav brings Pomegranate Glazed Salmon with Tabbouleh to the menu. Chicago’s own Sarah Grueneberg, also a Top Chef alum, contributes Italian classics such as Lemony Orzo with Artichokes and Dill.
Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We know how much Card Members love the food and drinks at the Centurion Lounges and look forward to seeing what’s new.” This initiative allows travelers to enjoy multiple celebrated culinary offerings all in one place, enhancing the lounge experience significantly.
The beverage program is receiving notable improvements as well, with mixologist Harrison Ginsberg from New York’s award-winning Overstory creating globally inspired cocktails, including The Centurion—a refreshing mix of vodka, yuzu, lime, and soda—as well as a non-alcoholic Green Tea Tonic.
Looking ahead, American Express plans to cater to the needs of travelers in a hurry with the introduction of Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge, scheduled to open in 2026 at Las Vegas airport. This lounge will provide a streamlined experience for those with limited time during layovers.
The evolution of the Centurion Lounge experience signifies a commitment to providing luxury and convenience for travelers, ensuring that passengers can enjoy high-quality dining and drinks, whether during a brief stop or a leisurely wait for their flight.
