Police officials have announced that they have received the investigation file concerning the suspended Director of Immigration, Amelia Komaisavai, from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that the files related to all implicated immigration officers, including Komaisavai, have been forwarded to them by the ODPP.
Ms. Komaisavai is currently on leave while an investigation is ongoing regarding the unauthorized issuance of Fijian passports to the children of two members of the Grace Road Church. The ODPP clarified that her file was sent to the police last month for further action.
This investigation has been in the works since December of last year, when the ODPP first indicated that they had received the file, which included implications against Komaisavai and “a few others.” The office stated at that time that a thorough review of the evidence had been conducted, and the file would be returned to the police along with a summary of the ODPP’s recommendations.
As this case develops, the police and ODPP are expected to provide updates, underscoring the commitment to ensure accountability and integrity within the immigration system. This process may serve as a significant step toward reinforcing public confidence in immigration practices and procedures.
