AMC Plainville 20 has reopened its doors after being temporarily closed due to a burst pipe incident. The reopening occurred on Wednesday, as confirmed by a company spokesperson.

Prior to the reopening, several moviegoers were met with disappointment on Tuesday evening when they discovered the theater closed, with a note on the locked doors. Eva Kulikowski from Enfield shared her confusion after arriving via Uber only to find the parking lot empty. “I thought maybe they closed permanently but I found out there was a water leak or a pipe burst, something like that,” she said.

Other patrons, like James O’Sullivan from West Hartford, hesitated to buy tickets in advance, which ultimately spared them disappointment when they encountered the shut theater. “There’s no cars here,” he said, reflecting on the unexpected closure post-Super Bowl weekend.

Fire officials confirmed that a sprinkler pipe had burst, leading to the theater’s closure. Many customers expressed disappointment, although they were understanding of the situation. “You would think it would be heated well enough to not have pipe bursts,” Adam Plante from Burlington noted.

In light of Connecticut’s recent cold weather, which has led to various pipe bursts across both residential and commercial properties, local officials are reminding residents to inspect their pipes as temperatures begin to rise.

This incident shines a light on the impact of extreme weather conditions on local businesses and serves as a reminder for preventative measures to avoid future disruptions. The reopening of AMC Plainville 20 is a welcome development for movie lovers in the area, eager to return to the big screen.
