Kansas City police announced Thursday night that two siblings, Maka Issack, 10, and her brother Yaqud Issack, 8, who were the subjects of an Amber Alert earlier in the evening, have been safely located in south Kansas City. Authorities confirmed that a suspect is now in custody.

The Amber Alert was issued after the children were reported missing around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. They were last seen near the intersection of Barry Road and Maple Woods Road in the Northland area of Kansas City.

Maka Issack is described as approximately 4 feet tall, weighing around 75 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she is believed to have been wearing a red jacket, a yellow dress, and pink-and-white shoes. Yaqud Issack is reported to be about 5 feet tall and weighs approximately 90 pounds, also with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in a gray T-shirt, red sweatpants, a black jacket, and black shoes.

At the time they went missing, the siblings were said to be traveling in a silver 2007 Infiniti two-door vehicle, bearing the tag number 008DMLF. The vehicle was being operated by a suspect, identified as Lyrick Bryson, who is described as a Black male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 200 pounds. Bryson was last seen wearing a black jacket, a red hoodie, jeans, and blue shoes.

Police did not release further details about the circumstances surrounding their safe recovery. The swift resolution of this case serves as a vital reminder of the effectiveness of community engagement and rapid response in ensuring the safety of children.
