The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide and Missing Persons Units are urgently investigating the abduction of a ten-month-old girl named Nalaya Crew. The distress call was received on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 7:01 PM, prompting law enforcement to act swiftly.

Nalaya was reportedly taken by a distant family member, identified as 19-year-old Michelle Hemphill, and her boyfriend, 23-year-old Timothy Lee Smith Jr. Family members are expressing grave concerns for the child’s safety, as Ms. Hemphill is currently homeless and lacks the resources to care for Nalaya. The couple was last seen departing in a blue minivan, believed to be driven by Mr. Smith, near the 6600 block of Monroe Road.
