An Amber Alert issued for a missing 3-month-old baby in Kitsap County has been successfully canceled after the infant was found safe. The alert was prompted when the baby was reported missing Friday morning from Preble Street in unincorporated Bremerton, Washington. Authorities disclosed that the child was taken by her mother, who does not have legal custody.
The FBI assisted in the search efforts, and crucial support came when Washington State Patrol (WSP) located the mother with the child as they disembarked from the Bremerton-Seattle ferry at Coleman Dock. Kevin McCarty, communications director at the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that the baby is safe and now with the WSP troopers who initially found her.
“I want to emphasize that the Amber Alert worked,” McCarty highlighted, noting the quick response made possible by disseminating information rapidly across multiple agencies. He praised the collaboration among local, regional, and federal partners, including the FBI, which significantly contributed to the successful resolution of the situation. The mother is currently in custody, with charges yet to be determined.
