Amazon is set to expand its logistics operations in Arkansas with the establishment of a new delivery station in Fort Smith. The company has recently acquired approximately 18 acres of land at 4300 Geren Rd. for $1.3 million, marking a significant step in enhancing its delivery network.

This new facility will play a crucial role in the last stage of Amazon’s delivery process, where packages are sorted for final delivery to customers’ homes and businesses. It follows the recent opening of a similar delivery station in Lowell, which began operations in early 2022.

Amazon’s investment in Arkansas has been substantial; since 2010, the company has invested over $2.6 billion in the state, creating around 4,000 full- and part-time jobs. These investments have not only bolstered Amazon’s infrastructure but have also contributed an estimated $2.4 billion to the local economy, generating more than 6,500 indirect jobs.

As Amazon continues to grow its presence in Arkansas, the new Fort Smith delivery station is expected to enhance the efficiency of its operations, further solidifying the company’s role as a key player in the region’s economy. Though details on the timeline for the construction and opening of the new facility remain unavailable, the development is a hopeful indication of job creation and economic growth in the area.
