Alyssa Thomas, the former Maryland women’s basketball standout, made a significant impact in her return to Connecticut, scoring 14 points and providing 11 assists as the Phoenix Mercury triumphed over the Connecticut Sun with a score of 83-75. Thomas, who spent the first 11 seasons of her career with the Sun before being traded to the Mercury in January, showcased her skills with a near triple-double performance, including eight rebounds.

The season has been remarkable for Thomas as she continues to climb the WNBA all-time charts in rebounds, now holding the 17th spot with a total of 2,448 rebounds, just six behind fellow former Maryland player Crystal Langhorne. Her impressive contributions didn’t stop there; with her 11 assists, she made history for the Mercury by becoming the first player in the franchise’s history to record 10 or more assists in four consecutive games.
