Ann Altman, the younger sister of OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, has initiated a lawsuit in a federal court in Missouri, alleging that he sexually abused her during her childhood. The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, claims the abuse took place at the family home near St. Louis from 1997 until 2006, starting when Ms. Altman was only three years old.
The legal documents state that as a consequence of the alleged abuse, Ms. Altman has endured significant bodily injury and has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), severe emotional distress, mental anguish, and depression, all of which she expects to persist in the future.
Ms. Altman has previously made similar allegations against her brother on social media platforms. She is being represented by a law firm from Illinois that specializes in cases of sexual assault and harassment.
While the case is serious and sensitive, it’s important to acknowledge the growing awareness and support for survivors of abuse who are coming forward to share their experiences. Such actions can help raise awareness about these critical issues and potentially lead to broader societal discussions around accountability and the support available for survivors.
