The recent draw at Carlos Tartiere marked the conclusion of the season for UD Almería. Similar to their previous two relegations to the Segunda División, the red and white team failed to secure a return to the top tier of Spanish football just a year later. The new president, Mohamed Al-Khereiji, confirmed during his presentation to the Almeria community that the club’s strategy will focus on building a strong project that aims for promotion, stating, “I assure you that the next project will strive for ascension, giving us time to work towards a return to Primera, remaining at the top throughout the season.”
Before the new season begins, there are various matters of interest for Almería fans. The season ticket campaign has garnered significant attention, especially after general director Mohamed El Assy noted the “problematic” absence of thousands of supporters with season tickets. He indicated that this campaign will be announced soon, with expectations for information to be revealed by the end of June or early July.
Another key issue for the club is choosing a new kit sponsor, as their previous deal with Castore has ended. Reports suggest that Italian brand Macron will take over, aiming to improve on the unremarkable tenure of the British company. The physical store at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos is set to open its doors on July 1, coinciding with when the Real Federación Española de Fútbol is expected to unveil the full schedule for all competitions.
Additionally, July is anticipated to bring announcements regarding player transfers. Patrick Soko has already been confirmed as a new signing for the club after a notable season with SD Huesca, where he will join for four years. Another potential target is Daijiro Chirino, a defender from CD Castellón, whose transfer could break the record for the club if negotiations progress successfully.
As the summer transfer market heats up, the club will also begin addressing outgoing players. Final decisions on several individuals like Luis Javier Suárez and Marc Pubill are expected to be made, with many moves likely extending into the final days of August. The new season is set to kick off the weekend of August 17, marking the beginning of their pursuit for a return to Primera División.
This proactive approach by the management suggests a positive outlook for UD Almería as they aim to regroup and fight for promotion in the coming season.
