Massimiliano Allegri, the Head Coach of AC Milan, emphasized that the primary objective for his team this season is not to clinch the Serie A title, but to secure qualification for the Champions League. Allegri has set a specific points target that he believes is essential for achieving this goal.
As of now, Milan is at the top of the Serie A standings, maintaining an unbeaten streak of six matches after a recent 2-1 victory against Fiorentina at the San Siro. Following an unexpected defeat to Cremonese in their opening match, the Rossoneri have bounced back strongly with five wins and a draw against Juventus.
During his pre-match press conference ahead of their upcoming game against newly-promoted Pisa, Allegri lightheartedly remarked on the need to improve performance against teams newly entering the league, referencing their earlier setback against Cremonese. He stated, “Winning is never easy. We want to take another step forward and slowly head towards the tally that qualifies us for the Champions League. That is our goal. We need a minimum of 74 points.”
Allegri stressed the importance of focusing on their immediate challenges, saying, “We’re not thinking about Napoli or Inter, we are thinking about tomorrow. We have to keep our feet on the ground.” This approach reflects a level-headed strategy as the season progresses, with the team’s resilience and ability to adapt to challenges marking a hopeful path to achieving their goals.
