Fan voting for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game has commenced, allowing fans to cast their votes until June 28. The league revealed the initial voting results, showcasing a strong lead by Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, who garnered 515,993 votes, the highest of any player. Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier follows closely with 484,758 votes. The top two players will serve as captains and will draft their teams ahead of the All-Star Game scheduled for July 19 in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Fever had an impressive showing, with four players—Clark, Aliyah Boston (3rd), Kelsey Mitchell (7th), and Lexie Hull (9th)—making it into the top 10. In total, eight Fever players are within the top 40 vote-getters. The New York Liberty is the only other franchise featuring four players amongst the top 40.
In commenting on the fan voting, Clark expressed her appreciation for the engagement it generates, emphasizing that while the fan votes matter, they do not dictate the essence of competition: “It’s a fun way to get the fans involved and passionate about All-Star,” she noted.
This year’s voting turnout has already demonstrated remarkable growth. The first round of fan voting in 2023, prior to Clark joining the league, recorded a total of 422,173 votes. Comparatively, both Clark and Collier surpassed that total individually in the first round this year. The excitement around the event is palpable, with Clark predicting that the overall voting will likely set a new record for participation.
Fan votes will constitute 50% of the total to determine the All-Star starters, complemented by player and media votes, each contributing 25%. The procedure involves ranking players by position within the voting groups, with ties broken by fan votes.
This year, the Fever will proudly host the All-Star Weekend for the first time, featuring various events including the Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest, followed by the All-Star Game.
The heightened interest and engagement for the All-Star Game signal a growing support for the league, fostering a positive atmosphere around women’s basketball that encourages fans and players alike to celebrate the sport together.
