Alison Brie has expressed her hopes and suggestions for her possible return in the upcoming installment of the “Scream” franchise, “Scream 7.” During a recent episode of the podcast “Shut Up Evan,” Brie reflected on her character, Rebecca Walters, from “Scream 4,” which ended in her brutal demise at the hands of Ghostface. In light of previous reports about cast members like David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Scott Foley returning for the next film, Brie raised the question, “Where’s my role in ‘Scream 7?’”
Her husband, actor Dave Franco, chimed in, emphasizing the flexibility of the franchise’s rules, suggesting that even characters deemed dead could make a return, noting, “I feel like with new ‘Scream’ rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back.”
Brie also voiced her concerns regarding the survival of the “core four” characters—Sam Carpenter, Tara Carpenter, Chad Meeks-Martin, and Mindy Meeks-Martin—stating that their survival in the previous two sequels has undermined the franchise’s suspense. “Too many people live,” she argued, asserting that by “Scream 7,” there should ideally only be two survivors left among them.
Additionally, Brie lamented the character Dewey Riley’s death in the last film, describing it as “very sad” and a “mistake,” and advocating for a stronger narrative focus on the original trio.
Set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026, “Scream 7” will see returns from Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, alongside other familiar faces including Courteney Cox and several newcomers. This blend of returning favorites and fresh talent suggests that the franchise continues to evolve while paying homage to its roots, potentially exciting fans eager for a mix of nostalgia and innovation.
The overall excitement surrounding the film highlights the lasting impact of the “Scream” series and its commitment to both reviving past characters and introducing new ones, assuring it remains relevant in the horror genre.
