The Apex Legends™ Global Series (ALGS) will make a highly anticipated return to the Esports World Cup stage in Riyadh from July 10–13, showcasing 40 elite teams competing for a share of an impressive $2 million prize pool. As one of the leading events of the weekend, the Midseason Playoffs will feature teams from the Americas, EMEA, APAC North, and APAC South battling it out for ALGS prestige.
The event will kick off with Pool Play, where participants will be divided into two groups of 20. Each group will compete in a 10-match series, with cumulative points determining progression — the top seven teams from each group will advance directly to the Match Point Finals. Teams finishing eighth through 17th will head to the Last Chance Semifinal round, while the three lowest scoring teams in each pool will be eliminated.
The Last Chance Semifinals will see 20 teams face off in another 10-match showdown, with only six of the highest scoring squads moving on to join the prequalified teams. The finals will then commence under the innovative ALGS Match Point format, where teams must secure strategic finishes in each round to avoid elimination and ultimately, secure the Midseason Playoffs championship.
Strategic gameplay will be further enhanced by POI Drafting and rotating Legend Bans. After each match, the most selected Legend will be eliminated from the series, pushing teams to adapt their strategies and diversify their hero lineups.
The broadcast talent for the Riyadh finals includes experienced commentators such as Barney, Raynday, GlitterXplosion, and JHawk, along with analysts like Snip3down, Gaskin, Onset, VikkiKitty, Jamerson, and Lace. Audiences can catch the action live on the Apex Legends Esports channels on Twitch and YouTube, with multi-view options available on FACEIT Watch.
This upcoming Playoffs marks another significant milestone following the successful ALGS Open, which attracted nearly 160 teams to its first LAN event. The standout performance by 100 Thieves, who amassed 109 points to secure their victory, along with an impressive elimination-bracket run by Team Falcons, highlights the growing competitive landscape in Apex Legends. With a recent announcement of a multi-year championship partnership in Sapporo extending into Year 6, the Midseason Playoffs presents a crucial moment in the ongoing evolution of ALGS Year 5.
