Alex Warren, the 25-year-old rising star in the music industry, recently shared that he used to reach out to pop sensation Justin Bieber during his younger years. Prior to fully embracing his music career, Alex would email Justin and suggest they skate together, having been a competitive skateboarder himself. Reflecting on this during an interview on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, Alex remarked, “I used to email Justin Bieber growing up. I saw he would skateboard, and so I’d be like, ‘We should skate sometime,’ thinking he would read it.”
Having released his debut album, “You’ll Be Alright, Kid,” in 2025, Alex finds himself nominated for the prestigious Best New Artist award. The success he has experienced has shifted his perspective significantly. In a light-hearted moment, he joked about needing to delete his direct messages following his rise to fame, stating, “I had to delete all of my DMs the minute this all happened. There were like 400 of them. There’s probably a restraining order. I don’t know.”
Despite his success, Alex acknowledges that his understanding of music has room for growth. He expressed a desire to familiarize himself more with other artists, admitting to feeling somewhat out of touch with the music scene. He stated, “Everyone’s always asked me [what music] I know, and I’m like, ‘I have no idea who these people are and I wish I did.’ So I’ve been really trying to put myself out there and like other music.” One of his recent favorites is Charli XCX’s “Brat” album, which made a strong impression on him.
Alex has also begun to grasp the positive effects his own music has on listeners, highlighting the importance of connection in his performances. “I’ve realised after playing live shows that these songs are helping people. I think that’s important,” he noted, showcasing his commitment to making a difference through his art.
