Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm entered the Home Run Derby with the longest odds but put on an impressive display for fans in Arlington, Texas.
Bohm, not typically known for his home run hitting, had a successful first round and nearly made it to the finals before falling one home run short to the eventual winner, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández.

In a nail-biting matchup, Hernández topped Witt 14-13 after the Royals infielder just missed hitting a tying home run by only a few feet. Hernández became the first Dodger to win the competition.

After the derby, Bohm described the event as a “once in a lifetime” experience, having hit a total of 36 home runs.

New rules for the 2024 Home Run Derby
The 2024 Home Run Derby format has changed. All eight hitters will compete against one another in the first round, with the top four advancing to the semifinals based on their home run totals. Tiebreakers will be decided by each hitter’s longest home run.
In the first two rounds, each hitter will have three minutes or 40 total pitches (whichever comes first) to hit as many home runs as possible. Each participant will get one 45-second timeout, which cannot be used during bonus time (awarded for home runs over 425 feet). The finals will allow hitters two minutes or 27 pitches (excluding bonus time).
