Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will face Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final on Sunday at Centre Court of the All England Club.
The Alcaraz vs Djokovic final is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST), with live streaming and telecast accessible in India.
This marks Alcaraz’s second Wimbledon final, while Djokovic is a seven-time champion at Centre Court. Djokovic aims to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles on Sunday.
In the semi-finals, Alcaraz overcame fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev. After losing the first set, he rallied to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Meanwhile, second-seeded Djokovic defeated Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, 6-4, to secure his place in the final.
Last year, Alcaraz and Djokovic played a marathon final at Centre Court that lasted four hours and 42 minutes, the third-longest Wimbledon final in history. Alcaraz emerged victorious, winning his second Grand Slam title and ending Djokovic’s pursuit of a fifth consecutive Wimbledon title.
Carlos Alcaraz, ranked third in the ATP rankings, won the French Open men’s singles title last month by defeating Alexander Zverev in the final.
World No. 2 Djokovic, who clinched three Major titles last year, reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year. At Roland Garros, the 37-year-old withdrew before his quarter-final match against Casper Ruud due to a knee injury.
With 24 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic is tied with Margaret Court. A victory on Sunday will give him his 25th Major title, making him the player with the most Grand Slam titles in tennis history.
