At the 113th International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference in Geneva, Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Olta Manjani, expressed Albania’s strong commitment to social justice and sustainable development. Her remarks underscored the nation’s goal of achieving European Union membership by 2030.

Manjani pointed out the establishment of the Joint Consultative Committee with the European Economic and Social Committee, which had its inaugural meeting in Tirana earlier this year. This initiative represents a significant step forward in Albania’s journey toward EU integration.

Additionally, she announced Albania’s accession to the Global Coalition for Social Justice, a move that showcases the country’s dedication to promoting social equity both locally and regionally. Manjani emphasized Albania’s active role in the Global Accelerator for Jobs and Social Protection for Just Transitions, highlighting the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for all citizens.

Furthermore, she voiced full support for the adoption of the resolution for the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled to take place in Doha in November 2025, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to broaden universal access to social protection.

During the conference, Manjani also engaged in bilateral discussions with Beate Andrees, the ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, and Besar Durmishi, the Minister of Economy and Labour of North Macedonia, reinforcing Albania’s collaborative approach within the region.

This message of commitment to social justice and development reflects a hopeful trajectory for Albania as it strives to meet its EU aspirations while prioritizing the well-being of its citizens. The country’s active participation in international platforms further positions it as a key player in advancing social justice initiatives.
