As a ridge of high pressure makes its way across Alaska, the state is experiencing colder temperatures along with some clear skies, though a shift is expected on Wednesday.

In the Interior and Slope regions, temperatures will dip significantly, with highs only reaching the 30s, and Anaktuvuk Pass potentially seeing single digits on Tuesday. Partly cloudy skies will precede a wintry mix set to arrive by Wednesday.

Western Alaska will enjoy dry and clear conditions on Tuesday; however, this will change later in the evening as a low-pressure system approaches, bringing rain into Wednesday. This frontal boundary is anticipated to deliver a mix of precipitation across the region, including snow in higher elevations accompanied by gusty winds.

Meanwhile, Southcentral is basking in sunshine, with temperatures slightly above 50 degrees during the day, though nights will cool down into the mid-30s, signaling a move towards frostier conditions.

Southeast Alaska will also experience dry weather, featuring mostly sunny skies and a respite from rain. A special weather statement has been issued for a possible release from a glacial dammed lake in the Taku River, leading to warnings for residents to remain cautious and stay informed.

To keep up with the continually changing weather, residents can download the Alaska’s News Source Weather App, which provides access to live radar, satellite imagery, current conditions, and the latest forecasts. The app is also available through streaming services like Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV.

The weather in Alaska is ever-changing, presenting both challenges and beautiful scenic views, especially as winter approaches.
