Free agent forward Chris Livingston is set to join the Cleveland Cavaliers on a two-way contract, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. The 22-year-old wing was selected as the 58th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and began his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he spent two seasons on a standard contract. However, playing time was limited during that phase, resulting in an average of just 4.7 minutes per game over 42 appearances.
Livingston has demonstrated potential in the G League, particularly during the 2024/25 season with the Wisconsin Herd. There, he showcased an impressive performance in 18 games, averaging 18.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals in 29.5 minutes per game, with shooting percentages of .485 from the field, .301 from three-point range, and .828 from the free-throw line.
This past July, Livingston also made his mark in the Summer League, initially earning a one-year contract with the Bucks after being waived earlier. That deal was fully guaranteed, but he was ultimately released due to roster constraints as the regular season approached.
With the Cavaliers, Livingston is stepping into a promising opportunity, particularly as they are one of the few teams with an open two-way contract spot, allowing him to join without any corresponding moves. He will earn a prorated portion of a full two-way salary, approximately $600,000, which remains non-guaranteed until January.
Importantly, this move marks a homecoming for Livingston, as he was born in Akron, Ohio, adding a personal touch to his career shift. With his G League success and local ties, Livingston’s addition to the Cavaliers could prove beneficial for both the player and the team moving forward.
