Aída Cuevas has expressed her willingness to forgive her brother Carlos, although she emphasized that the ongoing legal process must take its course. She clarified that the decision regarding any compensation Carlos may be required to pay is in the hands of her lawyers, not her own.
The ranchero singer spoke to the press following her attendance at a recent performance of Las leonas, where she discussed the favorable ruling she received regarding Carlos Cuevas’ moral damages lawsuit. “I won the lawsuit, and the ruling is final,” Aída stated confidently, despite her brother’s legal team having appealed the court’s decision.
Aída was cleared of the charges in June 2024, but she had chosen to keep the news private until now. “I don’t like to discuss personal problems publicly, but I felt it necessary to share this,” she mentioned during her interview with Venga la alegría.
On June 10, her attorney, Enrique González Casanova, announced the verdict on the show Ventaneando, revealing that Carlos was seeking over 25 million pesos in damages. A relieved Aída shared that if she had lost the case, she wouldn’t have known how to cover such a hefty amount. “It was almost 26 million pesos; if I had lost, I probably would have had to pawn something,” she shared candidly.
As of now, she is uncertain about how much her legal representatives will be asking for as financial compensation from Carlos. “My lawyers are handling that; honestly, I don’t know,” she remarked.
Aída did not clarify whether the compensation includes any additional amounts Carlos may owe, aside from the appeal-related costs he must cover, which pertain to the legal fees Aída incurred during this lengthy process.
When asked about the possibility of forgiving the debt if Carlos lacks the funds to pay, she stressed that this decision lies with her legal team: “I really don’t know what my lawyers will do; I swear to you.”
This situation underscores the complexity of family ties interwoven with legal matters, and hopes remain that a resolution that benefits both parties will be reached soon. It is essential to consider the emotional and familial aspects at play, as forgiveness may pave the way for reconciliation, regardless of the legal outcomes.
