Aggies Dominate Missouri: A Show of Strength in SEC Showdown!

COLLEGE STATION — The No. 21 Texas A&M Aggies (5-1, 3-0) triumphed over No. 9 Missouri (4-1, 1-1) with a commanding 41-10 victory at Kyle Field on Saturday. What was expected to be a tightly contested match between two ranked SEC teams turned into a display of strength from the Aggies.

Quarterback Conner Weigman, making his first start since Week 2, returned to the field seamlessly. Texas A&M’s offense was cohesive, effectively utilizing big plays and well-structured drives that overwhelmed the Tigers.

Running back Le’Veon Moss excelled with 138 rushing yards and three touchdowns, demonstrating A&M’s dominance over Missouri’s defensive line in the ground game.

Missouri struggled to score near the end zone, settling for a short field goal with just eight seconds remaining. This marked the Aggies’ first complete performance of the season, as they maintained control from the outset.

“I was proud of their willingness to keep playing. … This is a step we needed to take, especially since we didn’t finish well in some of our previous games,” A&M head coach Mike Elko said.

The Aggies accrued 512 total yards compared to Missouri’s 254, with an impressive 276 coming from the running game.

“I told you all at my opening press conference that we want to be a blue-collar program,” Elko added. “The effort is starting to reflect that.”

With five consecutive wins, Texas A&M heads into a bye week, showing signs of recovery from their opening-week loss to Notre Dame.

“We are focused on growth every single day,” Elko stated. “We didn’t let the setback against Notre Dame affect us.”

While the run game was crucial, Moss emphasized that Weigman’s passing also significantly contributed to their success.

“The passing game opened up the running game a tremendous amount,” he explained.

Defensive lineman Nic Scourton praised Weigman’s hard work in returning to form, noting his dedication even through difficult times.

“He never flinched. He was always in the training room working on his shoulder,” Scourton said.

Weigman finished the game completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards and added 33 rushing yards, playing efficiently within the offensive scheme.

After the Aggies’ defense stopped Missouri on fourth down to start the game, Weigman led a promising first drive. The quarterback’s timing and rhythm complemented the running game, allowing them to take an early lead. The drive ended with running back Amari Daniels scoring from one yard out to make it 7-0.

The Aggies extended their lead with a 44-yard field goal from kicker Randy Bond. They followed this with two more touchdowns in the first half to secure a 24-point advantage. Daniels scored again with a one-yard run, and Moss added a touchdown of his own, further surprising Missouri.

In the first half, Texas A&M’s running game led the charge, resulting in three touchdowns—two from Daniels and one from Moss. Weigman’s performance was solid, completing 15 of 19 passes for 193 yards.

The Aggies’ defense was fierce, recording six sacks and making crucial stops, effectively limiting key Missouri players Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. to a combined total of three receptions.

Texas A&M now looks ahead to a bye week before preparing to face Mississippi State in two weeks.
