COLLEGE STATION — No. 21 Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0) convincingly defeated No. 9 Missouri (4-1, 1-1) with a score of 41-10 on Saturday at Kyle Field. The matchup, expected to showcase two top-25 SEC teams, ended with the Aggies demonstrating their dominance.

Quarterback Conner Weigman returned as the starter for the first time since Week 2 and effectively led the offense. Texas A&M executed a series of impressive plays and meticulously constructed drives, overwhelming the Tigers’ defense.

Running back Le’Veon Moss shined with 138 rushing yards and three touchdowns, as A&M exerted its strength against Missouri’s defensive line.

As the game neared its end, Missouri failed to score a touchdown near the goal line and settled for a short field goal with just eight seconds remaining. This match marked the Aggies’ first comprehensive victory against a formidable opponent in 2024, displaying control from the beginning to the end.

“I was proud of their will to continue to play. … That is a step we needed to take where in other games we didn’t finish the way we wanted to,” stated A&M head coach Mike Elko.

The Aggies outperformed the Tigers in total yardage, accumulating 512 yards compared to Missouri’s 254, with a significant 276 yards from the rushing game.

“I told you all at my opening press conference that we want to be a blue-collar program,” Elko mentioned. “The effort is starting to point to that.”

With this victory, the Aggies have won five consecutive games and will take a bye week before heading into Mississippi State in two weeks. Elko believes the team has learned from their week one setback against Notre Dame.

“We are in a growth mindset … we are trying to grow every single day,” he commented. “We didn’t flinch when we didn’t get the job done against Notre Dame.”

Moss noted the importance of the passing game, saying, “The passing game opened up the running game a tremendous amount.”

Defensive lineman Nic Scourton praised Weigman, noting his effort to recover from injury. “(He) never flinched. He was always in the training room working to get his shoulder back,” Scourton added.

Weigman ended the game with an impressive performance, completing 18 of 22 passes for 276 yards and contributing 33 rushing yards.

After an opening fourth-down stop from the Aggies’ defense, Weigman led a strong first possession. Displaying precision and rhythm, he drove the team downfield, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by Amari Daniels to put A&M up 7-0.

The Aggies quickly added three more points with a 44-yard field goal from kicker Randy Bond. They continued to build on their lead, scoring two additional touchdowns in the first half—both from short runs by Daniels and Moss.

A&M’s running game was pivotal in the first half, resulting in three touchdown runs. Weigman showcased his skills, completing 15 of 19 passes for 193 yards.

The Aggies’ defense was aggressive, achieving six sacks and restricting Missouri’s key players, Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr., to just three combined receptions.

Following this victory, Texas A&M will enjoy a bye week before prepping to face Mississippi State.
