Aggies Amplify Lead at PGA Works Championship: Who Will Claim Victory?

KHOLER, Wis. – The North Carolina A&T women’s golf team significantly expanded its lead during the second round of the 2025 PGA Works Championship on Tuesday. The team posted a score of 7-over 295 on the renowned Whistling Straits golf course, which measures 5,782 yards and par 72.

After two rounds, the Aggies now have a commanding lead of 15 strokes over Howard University, currently in second place. North Carolina A&T has accumulated a two-round score of 21-over 597, while the Bison’s second round was a 22-over 310, placing them at 36-over 613 for the tournament.

Individually, junior Ekaterina Prokhorova remains a strong contender for the tournament’s medalist honors. She shot a 73 on Tuesday, maintaining her position at the top of the leaderboard with a cumulative score of even-par 144 from her previous 2-under 71 on Monday. Close behind her is teammate Polina Marina, who made a remarkable leap in the standings after shooting an impressive 68. Marina’s total of 1-over 145 puts her just one shot behind Prokhorova.

Junior Tori Mouton also made it into the top five, currently tied for fifth place after a second-round score of 77. She holds a total of 8-over 152 for the tournament.

Prokhorova’s performance included birdies on three consecutive holes on the back nine, showcasing her skill and composure. Meanwhile, Marina’s round featured a close near-hole-in-one on the 12th, which she followed with additional birdies, cementing her strong position. Mouton overcame an inconsistent front nine to finish her back nine strongly, demonstrating resilience.

Junior Ana Rodriguez and sophomore Sofia Fernando contributed to the team’s overall performance as well, finishing at 12-over 156 and 18-over 162, respectively.

Prokhorova is set to tee off at 1:25 p.m. EST, following her teammate Marina, who starts at 1:15 p.m. The final round promises to be an exciting culmination of the championship, with the Aggies poised to secure a strong finish.

This tournament highlights the potential for North Carolina A&T to achieve significant recognition in women’s collegiate golf, showcasing both teamwork and individual talent, and setting a hopeful trajectory for future competitions.
