AFI has unveiled a new single titled “Behind The Clock,” along with a music video showcasing frontman Davey Havok’s striking new moustache. The song, released on August 5, serves as a precursor to their upcoming album, “Silver Bleeds The Black Sun…,” set to be launched on August 3 through Run For Cover Records. This marks the band’s 12th album, which is now open for preorders.
The music video, directed by Gilbert Trejo—who has worked with notable artists like Jerry Cantrell and Jack White—aims to present an intimate glimpse into Havok’s artistic expression. Trejo describes the video as an invitation into a world rarely seen, reflecting the deep and personal nature of Havok’s lyrics.
Havok praised Trejo’s direction, stating that the resulting video captures the essence of “Behind The Clock.” He expressed his admiration for Trejo’s artistic vision, calling the collaboration a true joy.
“Silver Bleeds The Black Sun…” will be AFI’s first studio album in four years, following their 2021 release, “Bodies.” The latter was recognized for its 80s-inspired sound, with Louder magazine ranking it as the sixth-best among AFI’s 11 albums.
In live performance news, AFI is set to play the Four Chord Music Festival in Washington, Pennsylvania, on September 14. They will embark on a North American headline tour starting September 30 in Madison, Wisconsin, and concluding on November 5 in San Diego, California. Additionally, the band will perform at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City on November 16.
AFI’s continued evolution and commitment to their artistry, along with their upcoming performances, leaves fans excited for what’s to come, fostering a sense of anticipation for their new album.
