Adele has announced her plans to take a significant break from music following the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency. During a concert in Munich on Saturday, the Grammy-winning artist revealed that after her final performance in November, she intends to step back from the stage for an extended period.
“I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it,” Adele shared emotionally with her audience, expressing her desire to embrace the new life she has been cultivating. She also mentioned that it might be quite some time before she performs again.
The past few years have been transformative for Adele, both personally and professionally. In 2019, she announced her separation from Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a child. Since 2021, she has been in a relationship with sports agent Rich Paul, but she has remained private about their engagement rumors.
The concert in Munich marked the conclusion of her 10-show residency in the city, and she is set to perform the last ten shows of her Las Vegas residency, “Weekends with Adele,” which began in January 2022 and will officially end on November 23.
Adele expressed her gratitude to fans during the Munich concert, thanking everyone who has attended her shows over the years and reflecting on her experiences while performing songs from her latest studio album, “30.” She emphasized her need for a break, stating, “It has been amazing, I just need a rest.”
Historically, Adele has taken lengthy breaks from public life between album releases. Her latest album came out in 2021, six years after “25,” and prior to that, she released her debut and sophomore albums in 2008 and 2011, respectively. She previously stepped back from performing in 2011 for throat surgery and also took time off after the birth of her son in 2012. In a recent interview with German broadcaster ZDF, she hinted at a temporary retreat from touring to engage in other creative endeavors.
