Adele Announces Long-Awaited Hiatus: What’s Next for the Superstar?

Adele has announced a significant break from new music and performances, preparing her fans for an extended hiatus. After a busy period of performing at her residency shows both in the U.S. and abroad, the singer concluded her stint in Munich, Germany, on August 31. During her final show, she delivered an emotional message to her audience regarding her need for rest.

In a video shared by fans online, the 36-year-old artist expressed her gratitude to attendees. “I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very f—ing good at it,” she stated. She reflected on her three-year performing journey, marking it as her longest and possibly the longest she would engage in such activities.

While her Munich performances were expected to be her last of the year, Adele mentioned that her Las Vegas residency shows, originally scheduled for March, have been pushed to November. “I still have exactly five weeks of shows,” she told the audience. “But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I will hold you dear in my heart during that break and will reminisce about these shows and previous ones.”

She emphasized the significance of her residency performances, describing them as amazing but indicating her need for a rest. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now,” she explained, as the crowd cheered in support.

Adele became emotional while discussing her desire to prioritize her personal life, touching on her 11-year-old son, Angelo, and her rumored engagement to Rich Paul. “I will miss you terribly,” she told the fans.

Previously, in a July interview with ZDF, Adele had shared her intentions to take a break from music, stating, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all.” She mentioned wanting to explore other creative endeavors for a while after concluding her current commitments.

Since the release of her fourth album, “30,” in November 2021, Adele has not produced new music, with her residency beginning in November 2022. Despite her break, she reassured fans in January that she does plan to release another album eventually, although she indicated it would be some time before she resumes writing new material. “Next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live,” she promised.
