Adele Announces Break: What Comes Next for the Music Icon?

Adele is preparing her fans for an extended hiatus from her music and performances.

Over the past few years, the singer has been engaged with enthusiastic audiences during her residency shows both in the U.S. and internationally. On August 31, Adele concluded her residency in Munich, Germany, delivering a heartfelt message to the audience about her need for a break.

In a video shared by fans from her final Munich show, the 36-year-old expressed gratitude to her supporters. “I’m not the most comfortable performer, I know that, but I am very f—ing good at it,” she stated. “And I’ve really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I will ever do.”

Originally, her Munich shows were expected to be her last performances of the year; however, her Las Vegas residency had been postponed from March to November earlier this year.

“I still have exactly five weeks of shows,” Adele announced on stage. “But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I will hold you dear in my heart throughout that entire break, and I will think fondly of these shows and all the performances I’ve done over the past three years.”

She emphasized the significance of her residency performances. “It has been amazing. I just need a rest,” she explained as the audience cheered. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

Adele became emotional while discussing her desire to concentrate on her personal life. The Grammy winner has an 11-year-old son named Angelo and has been rumored to be engaged to her partner, Rich Paul. “I will miss you terribly,” she told the audience.

Earlier in July, Adele had mentioned her plans for a break from music in an interview with the German outlet ZDF, stating, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”

Since the release of her last album, “30,” in November 2021, Adele started her residency a year later in November 2022. Although her fans will have to wait before hearing new material, Adele indicated in January that she intends to produce another album in the future. “I just don’t think I’m going to write an album for quite some time,” she remarked during a performance earlier this year. “But next time I do, I’ll come to wherever it is you live.”
