Adam Thielen has officially announced his retirement after an impressive 13-year career in professional football. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Thielen reflected on his journey, expressing gratitude for the relationships and mentorships he has experienced throughout his career. He stated, “What a ride it has been! 13 years what a blessing! Have been blessed with so many great relationships and mentors over the years that I am forever grateful for!”

Thielen, who is 35 years old, spent the bulk of his playing days with the Minnesota Vikings. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2013, beginning his career on the practice squad before transitioning to a role as a special teams contributor in 2014 and 2015. His big break came in 2016, when he became a starting receiver, amassing 69 receptions for 967 yards and five touchdowns. His notable performances in 2017 and 2018 earned him Pro Bowl selections, solidifying his status as one of the league’s top receivers.

After spending the 2022 season with the Vikings, Thielen signed with the Carolina Panthers, where he had a notable 2023 season, racking up 103 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. His career took another turn when he was traded back to the Vikings at the beginning of the 2025 regular season. Despite having limited contributions, with only eight catches for 69 yards in 11 games, Thielen continued to showcase his experience. He ultimately finished his playing days with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he had a two-catch performance in a playoff loss against the Texans.

Throughout his career, Thielen leaves behind a remarkable legacy, ranking fifth in franchise history for the Vikings with 6,751 receiving yards, fourth with 542 receptions, and third with 55 touchdowns.
