Gabriel Olds, a 52-year-old actor and screenwriter, was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in multiple sexual assault cases in Los Angeles.
Born in New York and a graduate of Yale University, Olds was apprehended at approximately 9:40 a.m. in the Crestwood Hills neighborhood above Brentwood, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department.
In July, the District Attorney’s Office charged Olds with numerous offenses including three counts of forcible rape, one count of raping an unconscious individual, sodomy by force, assault with the intent to commit rape, and causing injury to a spouse, girlfriend, or child’s parent. These alleged crimes are said to have taken place between January and September of 2013.
The LAPD revealed that on January 19, 2023, a 41-year-old woman reported that Olds had raped her at her residence. Following this, two other women came forward with similar allegations, asserting that what began as consensual dating turned violent.
According to the police statement, three victims have been positively identified, and two more have reported incidents involving less severe forms of sexual violence. Detectives believe that Olds’ work as an actor may have allowed him to encounter other potential victims across the country.
Olds has been active in the entertainment industry since the early 1990s, with roles in productions such as “The Rookie: Feds” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”
Victims reported that Olds exploited his Ivy League background and film industry success to attract women, often meeting them through dating applications. The initial meetings gave victims a sense of security, which later turned into aggression and non-consensual acts.
Detective Brent Hopkins, who supervises the LAPD Special Assault Sector, noted, “We heard the same story repeatedly. Mr. Olds started off charming but then resorted to brutal violence to commit these rapes. Some survivors endured in silence for years before finding the courage to speak out. With him off the streets, we want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to be heard.”
Olds is currently held on a bail set at $3.5 million.
