The Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS) has appointed Apisalome Tamani as the Acting Chief Executive, taking effect on February 4, 2026. Mr. Tamani, who currently holds the position of Deputy Government Statistician (Technical), will oversee the bureau until a permanent successor is announced.
This leadership change comes following the appointment of Kemueli Naiqama as Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan, marking a significant transition for the bureau as it continues to serve its critical role in collecting and analyzing statistical data necessary for the nation’s development.
With a robust background in statistics and government service, Mr. Tamani is well-suited to steer FBoS during this interim period. His leadership will be pivotal as the bureau engages in ongoing projects designed to improve the quality and accessibility of statistical information across Fiji.
The appointment highlights the government’s commitment to maintaining essential statistical services, which play a crucial role in informed policy-making and economic planning. As Fiji aims to enhance its statistical capabilities, Mr. Tamani’s leadership is expected to reinvigorate the bureau’s focus on its objectives, ultimately fostering the nation’s growth and development. This strategic appointment reflects a hopeful outlook for the future of statistical work in Fiji.
