Achane Ready to Shine: Dolphins Star Set for Buffalo Showdown

Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane’s status for the Week 2 matchup was uncertain due to an ankle injury. However, he has been confirmed as active and will play Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium. Achane participated in pregame warmups, working on his injured ankle.

Earlier in the week, Achane was marked as a non-participant on both Monday and Tuesday’s injury reports but showed improvement by being limited on Wednesday. This positive trend increased hopes for his participation in the AFC East clash. Achane sustained the injury during the Dolphins’ Week 1 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown while catching all seven of his targets for 76 yards.

With fellow running back Raheem Mostert ruled out due to a chest injury, Achane is expected to dominate the carries for Miami. However, Jeff Wilson Jr. and rookie Jaylen Wright, who was inactive last Sunday, are anticipated to contribute as well.

Injuries have been a recurring theme for Achane early in his NFL career. In his rookie season of 2023, he excelled, averaging 7.8 yards per carry while amassing 800 rushing yards and eight touchdowns over 11 games. He also recorded 27 receptions for 197 yards and three additional touchdowns, although he did miss some time with a knee injury. As of 2024, he continues to face questions regarding his durability.
