On August 11 at 7 p.m. ET, ESPN will premiere “Above The Tide – 20 Years After Katrina,” a new E60 special hosted by Louisiana native and Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark. This poignant documentary reflects on the enduring effects of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans and its resilient residents. Viewers can later stream the episode on ESPN+.

Ryan Clark, who has been an Emmy-winning NFL analyst with ESPN since 2015, brings his personal perspective as a native of Marrero, Louisiana. This project marks his first venture with E60, ESPN’s acclaimed storytelling series.

The documentary takes viewers through an emotional journey across New Orleans, featuring insightful conversations with various local figures. NFL veteran Leonard Fournette, who experienced the hurricane as a child, shares his story, alongside well-known personalities from the New Orleans Saints, including Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and Steve Gleason. They reflect on the Saints’ emotional return to the Superdome for their first game after Katrina, which took place on September 25, 2006.

In addition to sports figures, Clark engages with local musicians, cultural leaders, and longtime residents who have been profoundly affected by the historic storm, exploring how the community has coped and evolved over the past two decades.

“Above The Tide” is directed by Julian Gooden and brings together the power of sports storytelling with a critical historical event, emphasizing resilience, recovery, and the spirit of New Orleans.

ESPN’s E60, recognized for its innovative storytelling techniques and in-depth journalism, continues to highlight themes of human interest and social commentary, making “Above The Tide” a meaningful addition to its programming.

As ESPN prepares to expand its offerings this fall, fans will soon have greater access to its full range of networks and services, including an upgraded ESPN App providing personalized experiences.
