Abigail Disney’s Game-Changer: Resuming Donations Amid Biden’s Exit!

Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party now that President Joe Biden has decided not to seek reelection. Disney, the granddaughter of one of the co-founders of The Walt Disney Company, previously stated that she would cease all contributions until Biden was replaced at the top of the ticket.

In an email to CNBC, Disney confirmed her renewed support, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” following Biden’s exit from the race and his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Earlier, when she made her decision to halt donations, she had already expressed her backing for Harris.

Disney emphasized the potential of Harris, noting, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats could tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s—and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity—if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among a number of prominent Democratic donors who expressed dissatisfaction with Biden after his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from the donor class and a decrease in funds contributed to Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race. Additionally, political financier George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also voiced their support for Harris following Biden’s announcement.
