Abigail Disney’s Bold Move: Back to Supporting Democrats!

Heiress Abigail Disney announced that she will resume her donations to the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from his reelection campaign. Disney, whose grandfather co-founded The Walt Disney Company, had previously stated that she would halt contributions until the party replaced Biden as the candidate.

In an email to CNBC on Monday, she confirmed her return to supporting the party, stating, “Yes, I will resume supporting,” after Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.

When Disney initially paused her donations, she expressed her backing for Harris, stating, “We have an excellent Vice President. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s (and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity) and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot.”

Disney was among several prominent Democratic donors who voiced dissatisfaction with Biden following his poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that pressure from influential donors and a decline in funding contributed to Biden’s decision to exit the race.

Notably, George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, also expressed their support for Harris following the announcement of Biden’s withdrawal.
